What is CFDb?

So who are those people who run CFDb? Are they a big company, Church or a large group of volunteers such as IMDb?

Who Is CFDb: Christian Film Database?

None of these, we are really just three people.  A husband/wife team and a great webmaster.

Roger and Annelie Rudlaff are avid Christian film lovers who desire to get the word out about Christian films.  Over the years we found out that most people think the only Christian films out there are titles such as Moses, Joseph and Jesus of Nazareth.  While those films are great, there is so much more out there and Roger wondered how are people going to know.

So began… The Wayhouse Christian Film Library – a free service to the community where people could come and check out Christian movies/documentaries/cartoons and return them for more.  It started off slowly and as we moved to different locations the greatest success was in Roanoke, VA where we even made the front page of the newspaper.  It was successful in getting the word out locally, although not successful financially, for obvious reasons.

An unexpected family crisis arose causing us to close up shop and move again – no more Wayhouse but another development came from this… CFDb.  It started very slowly in 2008 and in 2011 we formed an LLC company, (Christianfilmdatabase.com, LLC), and began to try and figure out ways so we could spend more time on the database because every film and everything done with the database is all done by Roger or Annelie, except for web issues that come up, including getting the search to work better, which thanks to Bryce, it now works wonderfully!

Bryce Wisekal our webmaster, has a Great Company called, “Foxyhare“, that we highly recommend to anyone who needs help building a Great website, or just looking for a website host, he’s the BEST! Just look at CFDb! He made it all possible on a small budget! Thanks Bryce!

Most people that contact us think we are a big company with a lot of employees and we are believing God that someday soon we will be.

Our goal is for CFDb to be blessed financially so we can dedicate a majority of our time adding and updating more films.  Our prayer is for many people to be blessed spiritually as a result of this ministry.  Although we do not make the films, we do help people find the appropriate films to help their spiritual needs.

Hello! I have to say how incredible your database is! I am an actor at Sight and Sound Theatres in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I am currently interested in working in Christian Films and found your database via Google. It has been tremendous in my research of Christian Production companies and I am very excited to start marketing towards these faith-based organizations.

I must commend you for all your hard work and diligence! I pray the Lord blesses you for your labor of love and that you are encouraged to keep pressing into who he is for all that you need 🙂

The favor of God looks great on you both as a family, thank you for your kindness!

PS. I am from Northern Virginia and went to school at Virginia Commonwealth University so I’m very familiar with the Southern Virginia area 😉

    Blessings,

    Tiffany

I am exciting to see the list of Christian films and since I am Deaf and I use closed caption to watch films. I am not sure which video has Closed Caption (CC) or SDH (Subtitle for Deaf or Hard of Hearing). I would like to see one of them on any film that indicates it.
Thank you in advance for doing this.

Some of them will show in the language section – it will say subtitles: English. A lot of times we just don’t know so you may have to contact the companies that are selling the films directly – you can e-mail them and ask if they have a list for all their movies with closed captioning available.

I would think so. It’s all based on your computer and speed capability from what I understand. You can contact the streaming companies directly like Christian Cinema to find out for certain. 888-466-8432.

Hi. I found your website via a data search on Yahoo! and Google and have found it to be helpful in what I wish to do as far as having a viable acting career goes. I have recently found out that I was not notified of an upcoming theater show in my hometown in the Cleveland, Ohio area and have felt betrayed by those who were heading up the local community theatre organization. When I first visited your website- I felt an overwhelming sense of calm (in a good way) and had taken great comfort in knowing that there are many others who also wish to use their acting talents for the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I plan on using this site often.
I have one question and I don’t mean to be a doubter- but- you say on this site that you can add a profile so that you would get recognized. How do I know that I would not be charged for anything and that if anyone (i.e. a christian film company) were to contact me about possibly being in a film- that its legitimate?

    Thanks and God Bless.

Hello David – any wishing to be in a Christian film can add a profile for free. We offer 5 profile pictures for free. There is a small fee for more pictures but all the details are found on the Profile details page – http://www.christianfilmdatabase.com/profile-details/ – As Christians, we always have to be careful to be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. IF someone contacts you, then they should give you their information such as a website, or movies, etc that they’ve produced and what they are working on. Ask questions. It is more likely that it will be you doing the searching, contacting different production companies letting them know you’re available so I would suggest checking out their details before contacting them.

    Hi,
Came across your website via IMDb …. I have over the last 6 months been searching for Christian based movies and teaching material that are either in Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) or with Chinese subtitles but cannot find anything. There is limited material available in Hong Kong and South East Asia (about a handful), and some in the US and Canada that I have contacted but possibly distribution rights prevents this being made available here. Oops by the way I am in Australia, and none of the Christian distributors in Australia can help out either. Can you help out by providing some contact info? The Chinese community in Australia is quite large and our church is quite active in reaching out to this group. Rather that set up my own home production company to produce this material and given the size of the Chinese market, will production companies consider at least captions in Chinese languages and how do I go about contacting them? Thanks.
