The definitive story of Christian Rock told by those that lived it. Born of millions of van-driven miles, thousands of sweat soaked basements shows, and copy of a copy of a copy demos, the revolution known as Christian Rock rose from seemingly unsurmountable odds to change not only music but people’s perceptions of faith.
In a manner akin to the earth shattering punk movement of the late 70s and early 80s, Christian artists began fighting a battle that not only included an unsympathetic public but an angry and sometimes hostile church. Fire and brimstone preachers began to focus their ire on not only secular artists but the mere concept of sacred themes being presented within the seemingly immoral framework of secular music.
Largely ignored, and in some cases mocked by the Contemporary Christian music machine, a culture began to grow around the developing scene as bands began creating music that appealed to the public at large, their success to be determined solely on the basis of the merits of their music. Bands such as POD, Skillet, Underoath, Sixpence None the Richer, and Switchfoot began to break across barriers and biases to reach multi platinum sales while infiltrating the mainstream as no Christian bands had done before. Bleed Into One will examine the phenomenon of the enigma that is Christian Rock. By going one on one with the people that dreamed, shaped and lived the movement, Bleed Into One will go inside the movement, to share the shortcomings, struggles and triumphs of the genre.
