CFDb Review!

A very moving, powerful Christian film. This movie gives you a lot to think about and has a strong Gospel presentation in it. A MUST SEE but don’t forget the tissues!  Check out the CFDb Movie Review.

Film Synopsis:

Clancy Miller is an abused 12 year old who runs away to keep from getting taken away by social workers. Out on the streets, she meets up with Nick, an ill-tempered, homeless vet. A corrupt mayor, desperately seeking re-election, offers Nick a reward to keep the missing girl out of site for a few days; the mayor’s secret plan – to ‘find her’ in grand fashion in an attempt to gain favor with the voters.

A scuffle with a loan shark sends Clancy and Nick on the lam to the nearby countryside. There an unlikely friendship blossoms, as the down and out man slowly begins to see the world through the eyes of the optimistic girl.

I thought this was a great movie that illustrates the innocence and, at the same time, profound wisdom and rock-solid faith that children often exhibit.

Clancy also reminds us of the horrors of war, the traumatic effect it has on our soldiers and the failure of our system to offer understanding and solid assistance to veterans who have trouble re-entering society.

In a child’s way of putting it, the movie does a good job of explaining why we need to be saved, that we can be saved through Jesus and how to be be saved.

What I did not understand about the movie was the ending. I won’t give it away here, but just when you think things are going to be perfect, they are not. Aside from the ending, the story was great, the acting was great and the message was great. I highly reccommend the movie.

I watched this movie for the first time on the JUCE Channel and found it quite moving. My heart went out to young Clancy, but it was a real switch to see Jefferson Moore in his portrayal of the character “Nick”. I’ve been so used to seeing him as Jesus in The Perfect Stranger DVD series, it took a minute for me to see him as a hardened homeless man.

One of my favorite moments from the film was when Clancy explains to Nick about Heaven and how when you know that that’s where you’re going after you die (when Jesus returns), why worry about anything else? I enjoyed watching Nick and Clancy’s interactions with each other and the way he came to care for her as the story unfolded.

The final moments of the movie were totally unexpected and although they moved me to tears, I was glad to see Nick rebound and get his act together.

To anyone reading this, I highly recommend purchasing the DVD. I know I will.

This movie was very well done on many levels, with very effective acting and overall solid writing.

But while I pride myself on being a realist, this is one time this type of ending was very misplaced and absolutely did not work for me and actually detracted from the overall force and theme of the film.

I thought this ending was horrible. All it proved was that God demands sacrifice and is quite happy to make children suffer, then murder them. I hated it.

I’ve never heard anyone think that about this movie. I am so sorry it made you think that. All of His children suffer because of sin, but the beauty is eternal life. If we endure, nothing we suffer here will matter. We won’t even remember all the bad we suffered here. That is what I’m looking forward to.

It can be watched VOD or you can purchase a region 1 DVD. There is also a VLC Media Player that can be downloaded so you can watch a different region on your computer. That may be another option.

The beginning and the middle of the film was
great. And the message film gave was also.
great. Actors was great . But the End was
    STUPID..!
    SPOILER ALERT
    Why Clancy had to die..?!!?
WHY GOD IF EXISTED??, WHY DID NOT
    PROTECT THAT LITTLE GIRL..???
During the entire film, there is a PROPAGANDA
that, HOW MUCH GOD LOVED YOU,
    HOW MUCH JESUS LOVES YOU.
    AND WHAT WE SAW..????
    THIS IS ALL BIG LIE..!
If GOD loved that little girl , then
Mr. GOD had to protect this little innocent
girl whom LOVED GOD SOOO MUCH..!
Dear Mr. Jefferson I am sure you are also
a very good person in your private life
as you were in the film protecting that
    little girl opening your heart.
But you made a WRONG PROPAGANDA
ending this beautiful film , letting GOD KILLING
    CLANCY MILLER.
IF YOU WANTED TO SHOW THAT GOD
AND HIS SON JESUS LOVES ALL, then
    GOD SHOULD HAVE PROTECTED THAT
LITTLE GIRL WHOM LOVED GOD SOOO
MUCH. That was with this ending
    a NEGATIVE MESSAGE FOR ALL
    WHOM WANTS TO BELIEVE THAT
    ” GOD LOVES THEM,
    GOD PROTECTS THEM”
    WITH THIS STUPID ENDING
    YOU SHOWED THAT
” GOD DOES NOT CARE WHAT
    HAPPENS TO PEOPLES EVEN IF
    THEY LOVE HIM”
    Such a pity;(((
Yes, there is a GOD. And this god protects.
Such a pity that with that STUPID ENDING
    you gave WRONG MESSAGE to
    good Christians about GOD;((((…!
I hope in an other film you correct this stupid
    mistake:-)))……..
    With my best wishes..!

I believe this is more true to life and realistic – God doesn’t promise us that there won’t be death and pain and suffering in this life. He promises eternal life to all who ask forgiveness for their sins and follow Him. There are millions of people that have suffered and died for His sake, and even more, every day that still do. As long as we live in a world filled with sin, there were will times (even many times) that we don’t understand why certain things happened to us or to someone we love. If we tell people that if they become a Christian nothing bad will ever happen to them, it wouldn’t be the truth.

The truth is that God loves us and we all deserve death, but He grants us a way out by offering eternal life if we’ll accept it. No matter what bad happens here in this life, is nothing compared to eternal life and what’s waiting for us later.

Christians can not understand what ETERNAL LIFE
is. Even apostoles did not know what Eternal
life was about..? Jesus talked about Eternal
life but did not say what it was.
Eternal life, or going to the kingdom of
Jesus’s father or being in heaven are all the
same. Through Christian theologia it is not
easy to understand what JESUS meant from
ETERNAL LIFE as reward being a good Christian.
Through following Jesus to be saved.
Means going to heaven instead of hell .
Again here going to heaven is the same
    getting ETERNAL LIFE.
Eternal life means the end of death.
A life without death. Without sins.
Without sufferings. This is the real meaning
of ETERNAL LIFE. We can get Eternal life
in this life time while still being in the BODY.
Sure this BODY is finite .
    But the SOUL is infinite.
A life according the BODY means death .
A life according the SOUL gives
    ETRENAL LIFE.
To die to the BODY and resurrection or
    rebirth IN THE SOUL.
Clancy said in the film. “No matter what happens
you don’t need to be unhappy”.
That was a great message wich gave a little
    glimpse from Eternal life.
A LIFE WITHOUT DEATH AND SUFFERINGS:-)))
THIS IS WHAT REAL MEANING OF ETERNAL
    LIFE IS.
To be able to smile even if you are thrown
    into the fire.
My heavy critic about the end of the film
” Clancy” is that’s why. Being a medical Dr.
I know how it looks an empty hospital bed,
when there was a patient there before.
When I saw the empty bed with nick,
I felt i was falling . It was for me such a
Schock like it was for nick in the film.
I was feeling very bed. I even regret seeing
    the film.
Because the purpose of life is:
To make self and others always happy.
To stop self and the others to suffer.
Thats why , just for the sake of showing the
reality of life we should not make people to
suffer. That’s why if it is necessary we have
to lie. I call this WHITE LIES:-))).
Most of the time I lied to my patient in
ICU about his health situation. Although
I knew he was going to die within few days.
I told my patient that things is getting better.
    He should not give up.
That’s why , I also prefered much if
the good film maker of the film “Clancy”
could put to the end of the film :
    A WHITE LIE:-))).
Whatever life is. Whatever life will be.
No matter. Let’s lie to make people to be
happy and stop them to suffer:-))).
This is what JESUS had promised us,
    through speaking about ETERNA LIFE.
    A life without DEATH& SUFFERING :-)))……..
Now all I have to do , to IGNORE the end
of this beautiful film and to congratulate
all the players in this film for their
    EXCELLENT acting performance :-)))…
    THANKS:-)))..!
With all my best wishes for the all good
people of this world doing good things
for themselves and for THE OTHERS…!

That’s a hard one. Some people want the reality and some don’t. I guess that is where it’s difficult for the filmmakers. I believe all the filmmakers need our prayers for sure.

    Hi Destiny,

This is a very sad story, thankfully though, I do not believe it is a true story – there at least does not appear to be any reference anywhere to that fact.

    God Bless
