Film Synopsis:

Rupert Graves, Dominic Cooper, Antony Sher and Stellan Skarsgard star in this Masterpiece Theatre World War II drama about a group of Auschwitz prisoners who decide to put God on trial. The tale is based on anecdotal reports of an actual band of concentration camp inmates who convened a rabbinical court to determine how such evil could exist in a God-centric universe as they awaited the determination of their own fates — death or hard labor.

It`s a serious movie and is very thought provoking. THE QUESTION ” why did God break his Covenant with the Jews ?” Or did He ??

This is not really a “Christian Movie”, not made by Christians and more about Jews, than Christians, but as they try to spark the questions that come from those in the camps, it plays well for us all. I really enjoyed this film, makes you think about things not brought out in many Christian Films. It’s more like a debate, with augments for both sides. I know some don’t think this should be on CFDb, because they think the wrong side wins, but I think the Christians win in this film. There are really good speaches for God, and in the end of the film, a girl asked if the prayers of the Jews worked, the answer was, they are still her.

I would say not a film for the young though. Be on your guard!
