The classic story continues as Billy Coleman returns from WWII to his grandfather’s home in Louisiana and tries to readjust to civilian life after the traumas of war. Grandpa anticipated Billy’s state of mind and has a therapeutic gift waiting – a pair of Redbone hound pupplies – just like the ones he had as a boy. Soon after his return Billy befriends a young neighborhood boy named Wilson. The hounds and Wilson become his closest friends and together they help Billy to rediscover the gift of giving and caring.
