Somebody’s Child

A divine twist of fate causes Constance Rivers and her son Douglas to open their hearts to ex-convict, Benjamin Sparks. While on the brink of losing her battle with kidney failure, Constance’s near death confession instantly collides her past with her present. Douglas and Benjamin learn they are fraternal twin brothers who have been separated at birth 37 years ago. Somebody’s Child is a story about a son losing hope, a mother gaining faith, and God’s divine and perfect plan.

What another great GMC original movie!  As usual I had NO idea what this movie was about and so this movie sat in my TO DO list on my TV until last night.  This is a MUST SEE!  They did an excellent job on this one.

Some great moments throughout.  One thing that really stood out for me is that there are people out there that try and help people who have been in prison find good jobs.  That is something more of us need to do, go out of our way to help others.  Most people are in prison today because of bad decisions they made based on what they thought they had to do.  They need a helping hand and someone to help them think differently about themselves and what options they have in life.  It’s not easy for someone who has a prison record but what if we put ourselves in their shoes for a moment.  If it were us that had the prison record, would we want someone to hire us???  Something to seriously think about!

Some great actors/actresses in this one as well!

Did anyone else grow up with “The Serenity Prayer”?  This plays a unique role in this film.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

It was one of my mom’s absolute favorites!

There was a great song in the middle of the film too, short but great, taken from a Scripture verse – Psalm 118:17.

Towards the end of this film, when everything seems to come full circle, there was another saying that was worthy of sharing.

“Success happens when preparation meets opportunity”.  If that is true, this is the time of preparation folks!  Prepare for what you expect to happen and see what doors God opens for you.
