Anna’s Heart on Christian Movies
Why do I love Christian Movies so much?
I LOVE Christian Movies. To be more specific, any movie that brings glory to God and makes me feel empowered and strengthened afterwards.
Jesus is awesome and I really love those Christian movies where you seem to feel the presence of the Holy Spirit.
When a filmmaker lifts up Jesus (whether they themselves are Christian or not), then it shows within the movie. The Bible tells us that when we lift Him up (Him and His Word) then others will be drawn to Him. That is the real beauty about Christian movies.
John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
A perfect example of this is ‘The Inn of the Sixth Happiness‘, one of my all time favorite classic Christian movies. I’ve seen this movie many times and every time it inspires me and strengthens my faith, even though they took a LOT of liberties with the actual story. Hard to imagine but Gladys Aylward went through a lot more than the movie portrayed in order to fulfill her calling.
In the more recent movie, ‘Do You Believe‘ the question was asked to a pastor if he believed. This movie really brought out how the cross costs us. Jesus told us as well that we were supposed to deny self, pick up the cross daily and follow Him. This particular movie encouraged me to walk in faith and reminded me that God is doing things we cannot see and may not see until the very end, when we’ll understand everything.
As the picture above illustrates, when we ask God to lighten our load, then we may not be prepared for some harder trial that is to come later.
Have you ever gone through one of those days? Or weeks? Or months? Or even years? I know we ALL have. This past month has been one of those months where it seemed everything that could go wrong…did. Then I read “Job” and realized NO, a lot more can still go wrong. So instead I made a list of things I was grateful for and the main list was over 75 things. WOW
Shortly after making the list, more things went wrong. Just a small example is 1 brand new computer crashing for no reason and could not be fixed. Faulty operating system. Seriously, that’s the small example. This all happened after losing about 3 days of work because of other computer issues.
This morning I was reminded (by a new Christian friend that I met as a result of CFDb) that if nothing ever happened to us, we wouldn’t be prepared for a future trial, and that we were told to rejoice in trials. So…I’m rejoicing for the things going right and learning to trust God no matter what happens in life. One Day we really will understand.
So this brings us back to Christian movies. Without a relationship with Jesus, without that assurance of salvation, there would be no point or purpose to my life and certainly no peace. Christian movies provide yet another way for Jesus to reveal Himself to others and encourage those of faith.
My prayer is that people all over the world would have their eyes open to the truth about Jesus and the Bible and salvation in no other name but Jesus’. There are a lot of movies made, but if that movie doesn’t cause someone to realize that we are in need of a Savior, then at the end of the day, that person watching will still be lost. I want to see all films sowing seeds for Jesus and truth, rather than confusion and error.
Winning people to Jesus or encouraging others in the faith is the ultimate goal for everything we do.
