Anna’s Heart on…
Perfection and Pressure
I had this topic picked out a few weeks ago but kept delaying the post for some reason…maybe a God reason, because today is the day that I feel like this. Wanting to cry and scream from all the pressure that makes me feel like I’m sinking in quicksand.
We often question why we go through things, but then I’m reminded of Job’s response in Job 1:21 – And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
Our struggles come in all different shapes and sizes, types and trials, but if we let them, they can draw us closer to our Savior.
Could it be that we put so much pressure on ourselves to be perfect like Jesus, in our own strength, instead of allowing the Holy Spirit to change us into His image from the inside out? After all, it’s by beholding we become changed. How much pressure is really from wanting to be like Jesus or the false pressure the world puts on us?
‘Twist of Faith‘ is a movie that reminds me a little of what Job went through, although taking a while to find his faith again, even though Job never lost his. This movie brings me back to the reality that things can always be worse…but the truth is…what does that matter? If our relationship with Jesus is strong then eternity and winning others to Jesus is the true focus, not the things of this world.
When we go through trials do we stand strong? If not, why? Maybe it’s time to examine our priorities again and find out how close we really are to Jesus, how much do we really trust Him?
