Anna’s Heart on…
“Fervent” War Room Book
If you haven’t seen ‘War Room‘, make sure that you do. What a powerful Christian movie about marriage and prayer. The movie itself made a tremendous impact on my own prayer life and then I got a surprise.
I received 2 books in the mail from a friend. One entitled, “The Battle Plan for Prayer: From Basic Training to Targeted Strategies” by Stephen and Alex Kendrick and “Fervent: A Woman’s Battle Plan to Serious, Specific and Strategic Prayer” by Priscilla Shirer.
Both fabulous books. I would recommend both highly although the Kendrick Brothers book I would recommend more for men and the Fervent book (as includes in the title name) for women.
Both books have some wonderful gems in them and include a lot of Scripture and personal stories that are quite inspiring and that most people can relate to in one way or another.
I’ve been praying for years that God would mold me into a real prayer warrior. It took a simple suggestion found in the book “Fervent” to really get me started from sometimes going through the motions to on fire consistent praying.
I realize for everyone it may be different, but this really was the key for me.
- Writing my prayers down for individual people that I keep on index cards in an index card holder box and continue adding to the box and then go over them again every day at least a few a day at different times throughout the day.
- Making a list of prayer requests and goals where I keep track of answered prayer.
- Keep a journal mostly focusing on important things or prayers requested and prayers answered throughout the day. I put a star next to the answered prayers.
So what have been the results since January 1, 2016??? I’ve really seen how God is moving in my own life and in the lives of others. I’ve seen some amazing answers to prayer as well and my list continues to grow and I find myself wanting to spend more and more time with Him in prayer and Bible study.
If anyone else has read either of the books or even just seen the movie, please share your comments below how they’ve blessed you.
