Anna’s Heart on…
Burden for Souls in
Christian Movies

I love people.  Maybe it’s because God loves everyone, who am I to discriminate?  God sees us at our full potential, in service to Him, even if most won’t follow Him.

godlovesyou

I know it’s hard to believe the God loves everyone because we live in a world full of sin, sickness, and suffering, but He really does and so should we, as Christians, love everyone else.  Each person we come in contact with is a person for whom Jesus died.

John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Sisyphean toil
I wasn’t born loving people.  I began praying every day for at least a year that God would give me a burden for souls.  Now I pray every day for everyone that professes Christianity to receive that burden for souls because we need it.  We need to really desire people to be saved.  To forget ourselves, and live for others so they might see Jesus in us.  A deep burden for souls.

love and the cross metaphor
Over the years many Christian films have been made, but a few really stand out as showing that true burden for souls.

One of my favorites is the one based on the true story called ‘The Cross and the Switchblade‘.  The pastor’s love for the gang members was so genuine that some of them found Jesus.  Another one based on a true story, ‘Christmas on Salvation Street‘.

Two others that have become my favorites, ‘Summer Snow‘ and ‘The Current‘.  I know there are others.  Please leave a comment below for other films that showed that true burden for souls…true love for others.

Join with me in prayer for all professed followers of Jesus that we would have that true burden for souls, as well as for all those that aren’t walking with Jesus yet, that God would reveal Himself to them and keep knocking on their hearts door for entrance.  Each person we meet, even our enemies, may one day become a following of Jesus and even possibly our closest friend.
