Closer to God, Christian Movie, Film, DVD

This is about Jessica’s journey with cancer.  There were some real moments of greatness throughout this film.  Children should never have to suffer or die…my personal opinion and God’s too, from the beginning.  Sin is the reason for all this pain an suffering and let’s not forget that.  Heartbreaking to watch her journey.  Parts of this film were very realistic.  I know, because my aunt died of cancer many years ago, when I was just a child, and she lived with us, so I saw her on a day to day basis.

A couple of highlights I want to mention:

  • It’s a choice – DECIDE to be a likeable person
  • Doing the right thing, even when it’s uncomfortable

If you don’t mind being sad, it’s a movie that gives you a lot to think about.  It’s about forgiveness too.

I truly enjoyed watching this film about one family’s journey through their trial of faith. I do not concur, however, with the opinion expressed that this came about by sin. This story, though a tragedy, is also about hope in God, love, patience, understanding, overcoming tests in our lives. Death and sickness are not the result of sin but trials of our mortal existence to help us create a more spiritual existence for ourselves and those around us. Death in whatever form it comes is a completion of our test in this life and a new test beginning. We had our first estate living with Heavenly Father. The war in heaven happened and we children of a loving God had two choices presented to us; the plan of redemption as proposed by Jesus Christ, and the plan of no agency as proposed by Lucifer. We, who have had the blessing of coming to this earth were the faithful ones who chose righteously to abide Heavenly Fathers will. We knew this life would be filled with sorrow, hardship, and tests. We have also the great joys which accompany us here in our second estate in mortality. Adam and Eve, our first parents understood that their first two commandments stood in opposition to each other: be fruitful and multiply, and do not partake of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Without the knowledge of good and evil, Adam and Eve would have stayed in the Garden of Eden never to die. Death had to occur so that the resurrection might be justified. The Atonement, too, would have not been needed as there would have been no “transgression” of the law. Adam and Eve understood that the rest of Heavenly Father’s children would not have the opportunity to come into this life and be tested. In fact the entire plan of happiness and redemption would be frustrated and we would have all remained in our first estate having no death since the tree of life was still accessible until the fall. I am truly grateful to our first parents for their willingness to sacrifice their existence in the presence of God in the Garden so that I might have this life to continue my journey to Eternal Life and happiness in the presence of my Father in Heaven. I am thankful for the fall just as I am thankful for the knowledge that through Jesus Christ we are ALL redeemed from the fall and are not held accountable for Adam and Eves “transgression” of the law but that I AM subject to my own choices and their consequences. I appreciate this movie and the testimony of the author, and those who are associated with it, that life is hard, it’s meant to be hard, but just like the quote says, “God will never give you more than you can handle” and “if He brings you to it, He will get you through it”. I do believe that Christ has fulfilled His mission to bring us redemption and resurrection. “For this is My work and My glory yo bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man”. I so trust in his atonement for my sins by my faith in Him, I believe Him. and by working to be worthy of his atonement I may receive joy in my Fathers house. This I testify in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen

Looking forward to no more death or sickness! There are some cases in which we do reap the results of our sinful habits that turn into sickness.
I think that is why Paul said in I Corinthians 10:31 – Whether therefore ye eat or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
