‘Coming Home for Christmas’ ~ CFDb Movie Review
Coming Home for Christmas – Sisters Kate and Melanie haven’t spoken to each other in years since a hurtful scene at Melanie’s wedding. Their parents, Wendy and Al, have let the pain of their daughters’ absence drive a wedge between them, and their tensions have led to a separation. Kate is determined to reunite the entire family for Christmas, and has the perfect spot… their old family home. The only problem is there’s someone else living there now.
This was a cute film, with some great moments of laughter, mixed in with some serious themes, especially of forgiveness. Here is what I liked about this film:
- The quirkiness of the main character Kate and the scene where she is on the swing.
- The reality of the dysfunctional family. Are there really ANY families out there that aren’t dysfunctional in one way or another?
- Loved the plan to get the parents back together. I have to admit this part brought back a lot of memories from my childhood on how we spent Christmas every year.
- True love, telling the truth, even when it hurts. (We just normally have to learn a tactful way to do it.) Truth…in love…always
