‘Ephraim’s Rescue’ ~ CFDb Movie Review
By listening to and following his heart, Ephraim Hanks finds his way in life and eventually provides relief and rescue to the suffering Martin Handcart Company. Based on a true LDS story.
Decisions Determine our Destiny…this was the quote on one of the pictures of this film and there is one scene in the film where there is a fork in the road and great how he makes his determination where to go. It was a powerful scene. God has a plan for each of our lives whether we follow it or not. It is our decisions, when we make the right ones, that cause us to either follow or walk away from that plan.
The very beginning of this film reminded me of Jairus’ daughter.
I liked the statement, “Everything that happened seemed to be a lesson God wanted me to learn”. I agree with that statement for my life as well.
I hated the scene and the words that the mother spoke to her one son. You’ll know it as soon as you see it. Proverbs 18:21 – Death and life are in the power of the tongue; and they that love it shall eat its fruits thereof. (Another lesson God is teaching me daily)
There is some great acting in this film, it seems to transport you back to this terrible time but it does cause you to seriously question whether it was God leading them to take this journey to begin with.
This is a touching film, based on a true story, so the pain and suffering of these particular people had to have been horrible. I can’t even begin to imagine what it was like. Even though this is a very serious film, there are a few really humorous moments, especially loved the horse with such great personality.
This is still playing in Select Theaters and is not out on DVD yet.
