In Gramps’ Shoes

In Gramps’ Shoes  – After 20 years of praying for his daughter to let him back into her life, 65-year-old Ty gets his wish when the prodigal requests his help in dealing with a financial bind and her rebellious teenage son. Ty’s first encounter with his grandson, whom the grandfather has never met, leads to a challenge for a two mile race that alters the course of life of the young man as well as the grandfather.

Other than Gramps’ character, I really enjoyed Sally, played by Brittany Blades.  I hope to see her again in other faith based films.

Here are some things that stood out to me in this film:

  • His pain, my gain – referring to Jesus’ pain.  That was a GREAT statement.
  • You’d have to live on an island to avoid getting hurt.
  • There is a difference between happiness and joy.

What bothered me most were the boys being terribly disrespectful and the mom too!  They reminded me of II Timothy 3:1,2 – This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy…and it continues…

The difference is that those verses apply to people already IN the church.  Even more terrible and something to seriously pray about.  It’s no wonder most people believe we really ARE in the last days and Jesus’ return is very near!

In Gramps' ShoesI really liked some of the practical ways gramps was a witness wherever he went.  Pretty amazing if someone wants to follow in your foot steps.  Even better if we all follow in His footsteps.  Find a way to show your Christianity in practical ways too!
