Sneak Preview

I had heard so much about this film and I was finally blessed to be able to watch it and review it, and to be able to watch the 35th Anniversary Edition, fully restored and remastered, even better!

There was a lot to this film so this review may be a bit lengthy.  Here are some highlights for ‘The Jesus Film’ His Life. His Death. Our Hope:

  • Loved the beginning and the explanation that since sin…mankind rebelled against God and went their own way.
  • Nice recap of the Bible from the beginning until Jesus’ resurrection.
  • Instead of sin separating us from God, Jesus’ sacrifice (or the lambs until His arrival) would restore our relationship with Him.
  • Shows Jesus fulfilling prophecies – This movie is VERY Scriptural
  • A comment about how no actor is worthy of such a role it was done so we could understand and benefit from the life of Jesus.  What a perfect evangelical film and in so many languages.
  • Jesus cleansing the temple really impressed me about how we might be polluting our own temples now just as they did back then.  God’s house is a house of prayer…have we made it a den of thieves.  And what about the Holy Spirit in us…we are the temple for the Holy Spirit, how are we polluting that temple as well???
  • Jesus is the king of beggars, whores and thieves – what a thought.
  • The most powerful part for me was the scene in the garden where Jesus prays for God to take that cup from Him, nevertheless not my will, but Thine be done.  If Jesus prayed this, certainly I can too when things are difficult in my life.  My pain could never compare with His as He took on the sins of the entire world and He never sinned…amazing!
  • Peter truly repenting was also very powerful and referring back to Psalm 51, the perfect Psalm for repentance.

All in all a fantastic film.  In one of the DVD extras it mentioned that there have been over 200,000 million people that accepted Christ as a result of this film.  WOW!  Imagine how all of Heaven rejoiced to see those people find out the truth through a movie.  If you haven’t seen this movie yet…it’s time!
