‘Love’s Unending Legacy’ ~ CFDb Movie Review & Recommendation

Love’s Unending Legacy

The fifth heartwarming movie in Janette Oke’s Love Comes Softly saga.

Two years have passed since the tragic death of Missie LaHaye’s husband Willie. Ultimately unable to work the land on her own, Missie (Erin Cottrell) and son Maddie leave Tettsford Junction for the security of her father’s ranch and the hope of a new life. New adventures await as Missie takes in reluctant orphan Belinda (Holliston Coleman) who hides a secret. A new home also brings the possibility of romance… if Missie can manage to put the past behind her. Dale Midkiff and Victor Browne also star in this touching story of faith and love.

Love's Unending Legacy, Christian Film

#5 of in the Love Comes Softly Series and NOT a disappointment, once again.  This may be one of my favorites in the series for a few different reasons but mostly because of the orphans.  Here are the two main highlights:

  • Orphan distribution on the orphan train.  (I can see the positives and negatives on the way this was done, but it would seem, for the most part, this worked out really well for the orphans.  I don’t know for sure this used to happen, but it makes sense that it would.  Many parents died young during this time period, and many children died too.  This touching scene really made an impact on me.)  If you haven’t seen ‘Faultless: The American Orphan‘ yet, I highly recommend that one.
  • Leaving a legacy of character – a legacy that lasts.  (This reminds me of Exodus 20:5,6 – right in the heart of the 10 commandments – Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.) That is truly what these verses mean – when we live our lives for God, the next generation is sure to follow.  They still have a choice, we all do, but the tendency is there to a 1,000 generations.  Fabulous!

Missy (Clark/Ellen’s daughter – Marty – step mom after Ellen died)
Maddie (Always thought it was Mattie – sorry) Maddie is Missy’s son.
Zach Tyler (The Sheriff in the town Missy moves to)
Belinda & Jacob Marshall (2 orphans (sister/brother) from the Orphan Train.
