Jason thought his inheritance was going to be a gift of money and lots of it. Was he ever in for a big surprise. The story sends trust fund baby Jason Stevens on an improbable journey of discovery, having to answer the ultimate question: “What is the relationship between wealth and happiness?”
Jason had a very simple relationship with his impossibly wealthy grandfather, Howard “Red” Stevens. He hated him. No heart-to-heart talks, no warm fuzzies. So of course he figured that when Red died, the whole “reading of the will” thing would be another simple cash transaction. But what Red left him was anything but simple.
You can rent this on Netflix but only in DVD form so you wouldn’t be able to see it today! This is a FANTASTIC movie and must see! There is only 1 scene that would be considered Christian because the movie is based on a book but the Christianity was removed from it. It’s still a great movie and can still change your life.
The Sweetest Gift – David tries to bring a new church bell to town on his own, Christy’s father visits and the locals begin to prepare for Thanksgiving. When Christy’s father stuffers a stroke, her mother informs her that she must return home to care for him. Meanwhile, the Cutter Gap men prepare a surprise for the Reverend.
Also available on DVD on Netflix – The one you want is on Disc 2 – I love this series and if you’ve never seen it, and you love old fashioned films, you’ll love this. Plenty of thought provoking episodes and the Thanksgiving episode is one of my favorites.
I’m sorry I didn’t think to do this blog ahead of time so you could rent the movies ahead of time.
