‘The Book of Ruth’ ~ CFDb Movie Review
The Book of Ruth – is a triumphant love story in the face of adversity. This selfless journey of love and devotion is seen through the eyes of a young widow. Choosing to leave her homeland of Moab, she follows her mother-in-law Naomi to Israel after the death of her husband. Upon reaching Bethlehem, she meets and marries a man named Boaz, who is of the Royal House of Judah.
This chain of seemingly unrelated events, sets the stage for the future kings of the nation of Israel, and the glorious coming of the Messiah. A Biblical Cinderella story from the archives of the royal Jewish bloodline, this story reveals the redemption of their inheritance through the child Obed, who was the grandfather of King David.
The Book of Ruth in the Bible is one of the favorite books for most women. I enjoyed the musical score and there is some beautiful scenery throughout.
There were a few parts in this film I really liked:
- Naomi when she talks about waking up with a song in her heart after so much grief from losing her husband.
- This film brings out the death of her husband and children as distinct events which is realistic. It helps you to really experience some of what she went through.
- They bring in the famous Bible verse quote that Ruth says to Naomi. Such powerful words Ruth 1:16 – And Ruth said, Entreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be me people, and thy God my God: The true conversion experience written in words.
And my favorite…Naomi saying, “If you have no kind words, then remain silent.” We ALL should live by this motto!
