Josh McDowell was born to be a pillar of the faith, but the harsh realities of a cruel world lead him astray from God’s intended path. His father’s violent alcoholism coupled with his own childhood molestation filled McDowell with shame. Over the years, that shame drove him further and further from Christ, until it finally turned to rage.
Eager to rail against the existence of a Savior, McDowell sought out conflict with the Christians he encountered in college. He mocked their beliefs and scorned their faith until they issued him a challenge: prove God doesn’t exist. Obsessively, McDowell traveled the world scouring sacred historical texts for evidence contradicting Christianity. What he found instead was truth — and a faith that led to grace and redeemed a broken man.
Undaunted is the true story of how Josh McDowell set out to prove Jesus Christ never existed — but ended up on a journey that brought him face to face with God. His ministry with the Campus Crusade for Christ has allowed him to spread the gospel to over ten million young people, and he’s published over 70 books in the field of Christian Apologetics, including More Than a Carpenter and Evidence That Demands a Verdict. He is a true fisher of men.
I am not normally a fan of docu-dramas, but this one was FABULOUS! This was so interesting and so well done. I don’t think there was one moment of boredom in this film. I truly believe that this can really bring encouragement and hope to many people, especially those who have come from some sort of dysfunctional family, which is basically the majority of us. I would highly recommend this film, especially to those who have suffered some abuse in their childhood.
This is a true story about forgiveness and his conversion experience. I don’t believe he held anything back from this recounting of his story.
What I found amazing is that he is another one that set out to disprove God exists and ended up finding out the truth…He does exist and Jesus is our Savior. I personally know of two individuals that set out to disprove the truth of the Bible and ended up becoming great men of faith as a result.
The one thing that affected me personally was the question that he struggled with, “What do I have to offer God?” I thought about that one again and I know that all God needs is our full surrender to Him and one person surrendered to Him will be a mighty force in this earth and bring glory to His name. So…Lord, here am I, SEND ME!
