What is Going on with Faith-Based Films?

Faith-based movies are no longer a niche market. Hollywood studios, executives and distribution companies recognize if you make a film that appeals to the Christian audience, they will show up.
Did you know on average it takes 10 years for a movie to get developed, produced and distributed to theaters? Since the success of “The Passion of the Christ” in 2004, it has taken about 10 years for multiple faith-based films to make it to the silver screen. In 2014, there were 19 faith-based films released in theaters with notable successes such as “God’s Not Dead”, “Son of God” and “Heaven is for Real”. Christians made their voices heard in Hollywood with their wallets at the box office.In the last six months we’ve seen multiple films released. “War Room” became the #1 movie in America. Currently, there are three faith-based films in theaters “Risen”, “Young Messiah”, and “Miracles from Heaven” with “God’s Not Dead 2” set to release April 1.
