Ray was born in Alhambra, California and raised in the nearby communities of Duarte and Temple City, suburbs of Los Angeles. His beginning in the entertainment industry was through music. He studied piano for ten years and was a member of a dixieland band that won the Battle of the Bands competition at the Hollywood Bowl in 1960.
Ray worked for several years in the airline industry and flew as a Director of Passenger Service for Continental Airlines. It was later in life that Ray developed a love for acting and held several lead roles in melodramas in dinner theater. Ray joined two other people in forming a non-profit theater corporation and continued acting.
He produced a local television program and hosted two others in addition to being News Director and co-host for a popular radio show in the region. On retirement and subsequent move to Texas, Ray continued training with drama coaches in Austin and is represented by Blvd Talent in Austin and The Linicomn Agency in Dallas. He was recently cast in the film “Hear Me Whisper” which begins filming around the middle of 2012.
