Heaven is For Real

Film Description:

Heaven is For Real – Heaven Is for Real is the true story of the four-year old son of a small town Nebraska pastor who during emergency surgery slips from consciousness and enters heaven. He survives and begins talking about being able to look down and see the doctor operating and his dad praying in the waiting room. The family didn’t know what to believe but soon the evidence was clear.

Colton said he met his miscarried sister, whom no one had told him about, and his great grandfather who died 30 years before Colton was born, then shared impossible-to-know details about each. He describes the horse that only Jesus could ride, about how “reaaally big” God and his chair are, and how the Holy Spirit “shoots down power” from heaven to help us.

Told by the father, but often in Colton’s own words, the disarmingly simple message is heaven is a real place, Jesus really loves children, and be ready, there is a coming last battle.

    If this movie is a true story (Sorry) I would like to buy it now instead of waiting until April, I can’t wait. I want my 32 year old son to see it before he dies. Yeah! That’s what I said.
    When he was not quite 5 he was diagnosed with brain cancer. Given 6 months to a year to live. Since then he has had 3 surgeries and one biopsy. He is on a what we could say, “The death train.” He now has 4 Astrocytomas and are Grade 4. His system is shutting down and he is afraid to die. He wants to know if we (mum or dad or his dog Molly’s) going with him. I can’t possibly imagine how frightened he must be.
    The life cycle isn’t supposed to be this way.
    Is this movie ‘Heaven is for Real’ ready now? Please let me know ASAP.

    Thank You for taking time to read this.
    I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas

    Hi !:)
    Dear Stuart MacNairn. Sorry to hear about your son. But God do know about him and do cares about him, let him know that!:)
    ..Obviously, since we human beings are (of nature) so reasonable and think so logically it IS hard to believe for example that heaven is “for real”. But believe me (well, not me but God and Jesus), heaven IS for REAL, that’s what I believe and are convinste of!:) I have myself experienced many incredible things and been answered by my prayers, and seen many incredible things with people I know, and that’s “proof” for me anyway that God and Jesus and Heaven is for real! And if we really do our best to overcome our sin and nature (such as envy, bitterness, anger, discourage, unbelief, lies, hate/hatred, unthankfulness, honer of people, recognition, “to be something” in this world to get honer and so on..) in this life on earth, while we live, not alone (that’s impossible, but for God is everything possible) but with Gods and Jesus help and strength, we can really get to a happy life here on earth despite all the trials and difficulties and sickness that we must go through. That is what Jesus talks about in the Bible, that if we follow Him and do what He tells us, we will be more like Him and we will go to Heaven when that time comes. And if we’ve lived a pure and good life before God, we will live with Him forever in heaven, where only the good exist!:)

    Matthew chapter 16, verse 24.;
    “Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.” (Matthew 16:24 NASB)

    I wish your son (and yourself) only the best and may Gods blessing be with him!:) And tell him (if he doesn’t know already) that God loves him and only want the best for him, even though it’s hard for us to understand or to see Gods plans with things!:)

    Another really good verse;
    “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope”. (Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV)

    If you’re interested take a look on this incredible blessed site;
    It’s real good people that have put a real effort to make that site and done it all with influences of God 🙂

    I read the review you recommended and I noted his points. I also feel that people need to read the scripture and find the truth in this story. I read the book and I know that some of what the boy says follows images seen in culture, but I do believe there are two things going on with Colton’s account. 1. He has the imagination of a 4-year-old and it’s he telling us what he experienced in a way a child would see it. 2. I doubt God is going to let a 4-year-old have visions or experiences of anything that isn’t on a 4-year-old’s level. I believe God intended for this story to be retold. How else will a 4-year-old little boy describe such an experience? There’s more to this than a simple story out of a 4-year-old’s mouth. I hope the reviewers remember that this is not an adult that experience this.

    I am so sorry to hear about your son but please try to explain to him that there is nothing to fear about Heaven, I know this to be true because I also had a similar experience and saw it, I was being cared for by Hospice given 0% of survival, well I am telling you my story so obviously I survived and not once but twice! I am now a 52 year-old mother and grandmother, a pretty much unknown, a simple person but nothing is simple about my story. It started with a normal (for me at the time)ER visit for Chronic Pancreatitis, if you know anything about this disease you get dehydrated quick and they can’t access your veins when this happens, now I have a port but this was prior to getting one so they placed a central line and after they left , well disaster struck as they had punctured both lungs and that started the snowball I wound up in ICU for 3 months in a catatonic state then awoke in a Nursing home weighing 68 lbs, after going through every rehab possible , the day I was able to climb 2 steps we had a celebration. I had lost so much oxygen it effected my brain as well so that had to be addressed as well, and I made my recovery only to have another bout 3 years later which is when I was given the 0% chance of survival by Hospice weighing only 50 lbs you have no idea what that looks like a woman in her 40’s weighing that little, those feed the hungry commercials , well those people looked fat in comparison. Anyway, I cannot possibly tell my entire story here but I want you to be able to tell your son there is absolutely nothing to fear about Heaven and until your there its hard to describe in words the feeling you have when the Bible states no pain, sadness, crying etc., you go into a state beyond all of that that I don’t think our minds can understand unless you been there but the easiest way to describe it is a numb but glorious feeling inside nothing but good in your heart and mind along with an abundance of love! I never knew or experienced what true Peace felt like until then and since then I have complete Peace no worries, just Peace!

    I ordered the book today . I noticed the release date is May 9 th for the UK this was the date my little sister died in 1985 her last words on this earth were I’m going to be with Jesus now and I truly believe she went straight there .I miss her everyday but I know she is with The Lord and I look forward to meeting her again there when my time comes . I had Septicaemia lazy year contracted from swallowing polluted water. I was in hospital a month . Nothing was working the doctors were at a loss what to do it was my birthday 7/9/2013 and I prayed to The Lord to forgive me my sins . I felt like I was floating and leaving this world. I felt the hand of The Lord inside my heart I started getting better I thank God everyday for curing me and giving me a second chance . Don’t worry about anything and pray about everything. God bless you all.

    I prayed for the Holy Spirit to guard the hearts and minds of the kids during the garbage movie previews before ‘Heaven is For Real’ started.

    With that being said, ‘Heaven is For Real’ was a fantastic Christ-centered movie that kids and Christians can enjoy. There is some mild sarcasm toward’s Pastor Burpo’s ‘belief’ that his son saw Jesus but the film has a strong reverence for Christ.

    If you are a Christian and would like to see movies that glorify God, you will not be disappointed by ‘Heaven is For Real’.

  16. Yamilet says
    27 April 14, 11:50pm

    I would not recommend any christian to watch this movie. It is simply a Godless movie about God. It depicts the christianity as a form of manipulation and people of little faith. It presents the characters not having faith in God and churches and christen leaders questioning God. Being a christian, why would it be so hard to believe your son when he tells you that God has spoken to him? There is not a moment when the characters are portrayed really praying or preaching. Any christian that watches this movie and sees nothing wrong with it needs to reevaluate their relationship with God.

    The book, HEAVEN IS FOR REAL was a fascinating read for me. For many it has given them hope for eternal life. To me, this is a far too important a subject to put my hope in a little boy’s experience. I wanted to see what God had to say so I went to the Bible. I have written a Bible study about heaven. I would be delighted to send you a free copy. Email me at and I will email you a copy. I was disappointed in the movie, they added some things they did not happen and left out other great information. I suggest that if you have only seen the movie, you read the book. Trish Pickard

    Dear Stuart,
    I feel extremely pained for your son. It is good that he is still alive which means that he still has hope and opportunity to get salvation and get saved through our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. Do not be anxious to find out whether heaven is real or not. Heaven is indeed a real place where all those who believe in the Lord Jesus go to after their death for an eternal life.
    I would rather request you to start praying and believing that your son can be totally healed from his ailment and lead a normal life, even now, even at this stage ! Yes, that’s right. He can get his complete healing if you pray for it. Remember, the Bible says that we were healed by His stripes !
    This is no story, neither is this a plain word of encouragement. Even today, hundreds of people have received divine healing even from stage IV cancer. What’s more, even the dead are being raised by prayer through Lord Jesus even today ! Your son’s problem will also be solved only if you lay your trust in Him and call out to Him in prayer.Get in touch with prayer cell members in your area or you may contact Benny Hinn ministries, Jesus Calls Ministries(India), Nathan Morris(UK), Reinhard Bonkke Ministries, Andrew Wommack or others that you may know.
    There’s hope for your son. Just believe and excercise your faith. God has not forsaken you. He will surely answer your prayers. Most importantly, trust in the Lord with all your heart.
    God Bless.

    I read the book and enjoyed it very much. I look forward to seeing the movie. The only reason I felt compelled to comment here I because I read “Randy Alcorn’s” personal opinion and did not agree at all with it. He claims not to “not know everything” yet proceeds to say many aspects of the book were not biblical. What really gets me is that while I love the bible and it’s words of comfort and instruction, I also am very mindful that it’s words were written by man as God inspired them. The fact that each book has a different flavor to them tells me that the author placed their own stamp on it. In fact just by reading certain books you can know the personality of the author. Now that being said I am very sure that there are things in heaven we cannot even comprehend. God is a big God and should not be placed in a limited small box. I believe everything Colton said he saw and would never attack the spiritual journey or experience of another. I regret even reading Randy Alcorn’s opinion because we have enough negativity in this world without attacking something that brings joy and comfort to many!! I had to get tis off my chest.

  22. Annelie says
    05 May 14, 7:23am

    Although comfort is beautiful, so is truth. When the men were moved by the Holy Spirit, they still wrote down the truth of God’s Word and His Word when read as a whole, comparing Scripture with Scripture stays as His Word, with no error. If we lose that belief, then we lose our foundation for truth. I hope that makes sense.

    God is very clear in Scripture that we are not supposed to talk to the dead. We are supposed to believe the Word of God, not what man says. I read another interesting article as well about this subject and they said that when people of other faiths have near death experiences, they each have one specific to their own beliefs. I didn’t know that. That is something to think about as well.

    Great book can’t wait for the DVD release. My nephew who was three at the time a similar experience he almost drowned in a hot tub. A few weeks latter he started talking that he had seen Jesus, that he’s very nice. He told her you can’t look into Gods eyes. Also he said that he saw a big dragon but not to worry because the big dragon is going to get wrapped up in chains and put into a big hole. Then there’s going to be a big party like 10 birthday party’s in one. My nephew had never been to church before that, his mom only told him there was a God and Jesus she hardly read her bible only on special occasions. God is reaching out and knocking on the door to all of us and it’s so amazing all the ways he does.

    It is a shame that I could not find any theatres here in Sydney Australia showing this film as it was originally advertised. I lost my 11 year old son on a sudden death on the 14th of December 2013. I am currently going through some sort of a roller coster of emotions and my wife and I want to have an assurance that our little darling is in heaven. Some please tell me how can I buy a DVD? I desperately want to watch this with the whole family. We are currently going through counseling but this movie hopefully helps us understand why we have to go through this.

    We are so sorry to hear about your loss. We don’t have a release date for the DVD just yet. You could do a search an online concordance to look up salvation and heaven in the Bible and do a study, this may bring you some comfort. We know that God is a God of love and mercy, even in the most difficult of times, when nothing makes sense, it’s so important to keep trusting Him. I do pray that God will wrap you in His loving arms, you and your entire family as you grieve the loss of your son.

    Reading of the grieving aching hearts among these comments refreshes the tight grip of loss that continually clenches my heart with the loss of my own beautiful son who died suddenly 2 years ago. The deep abyss of grieving sadness is a long and difficult journey for each these loving family members. Though I do look forward to seeing the movie, I’d been internally pressed to read the book within the first 48 hours of losing my own world. Given to me by a close relative, in desperation I grasped hold of it & didn’t put it down til I’d finished reading it. During a time when I was fumbling to stand as the ground seemed to violently disappear beneath my feet…The book “Heaven is for Real” provided me at least some confirmation that what I believed in my heart was true, there is more. All that love, all that absolute beauty, it cannot nor does not simply just disappear. I hold so much love, respect and appreciation for being allowed the privilege of my son while he was here. Even in my deepest despair I know there has to be so much more awaiting…Awaiting each of us to share in the comfort of all our loved ones surrounding us in heartfelt healing harmony. ~ God Bless ~

    Recently had the chance to view this amazing secular film with Christian overtones and thoroughly enjoyed it though i was sceptical being a hollywood film. But I have to say that it was interesting to watch the experience of a minister come to have a deeper more real relationship with Christ not as the fantasy character we grow up with as children but as the Living God who is present and has expectations. I watched as a man struggles to do works in his flesh, vainly trying to please a God he doesn’t really know or understand against the backdrop of his young son who quite convincingly claims to have gone to Heaven and met Jesus and some others. I watched as the church turns on his new found faith demanding that their old namby pamby ask no questions tell no lies minister return.
