CFDb Review!

Best one of the series in my opinion. This is a KEEPER!  See the CFDb Movie Review.

Film Synopsis:

Inspired by Janette Oke’s award winning Love Comes Softly book series, the four-hour, star-studded movie event is an inspiring tale of love, trust and miracles.

While still mourning the loss of her husband and daughter, recently widowed Ellie King visits her brother Aaron Davis, a sheriff in the small town of Haddonton, and his two children during the Christmas holiday. Ellie does her best to enjoy the holidays, even making new friends with Beatrice, a local shop keeper and Deputy Strode.

Settling in nicely with her brother’s family, Ellie agrees to watch her niece and nephew when Aaron travels out of town to purchase adjacent land for farming. But when a corrupt attorney in town leaves a young man to blame for Mayor Wayne’s barn catching fire and burning, Ellie ignores distrusting townspeople and steps in to help to prove his innocence. To her dismay, the season’s festivities are threatened when Aaron goes missing.

When all seems lost, Ellie not only gets the perfect holiday miracle, her brother delivered home safely on Christmas morning, but also the chance at a new life when she finds herself falling in love again.

How do the characters in Love’s Christmas Journey fit into the rest of the Love Comes Softly Series?

  2. Annelie says
    08 November 11, 10:48am

We finally got a chance to watch this and I think this is the favorite one (except for the first 2 or 3). Although we are still confused as to where these characters fit in. Ellie and Aaron are the children of Missy and her first husband…is that what everyone else is getting as well? Without watching the whole series over again to figure it out, was wondering (wasn’t Ellie the little infant that died?) That obviously can’t be so anyone else pipe in here and help us all out….

Once the dvd is available to buy we’ll add the link so you can purchase it. Hope you get to watch it soon. It’s not scheduled to come back on soon but hopefuly that will change and they’ll play it closer to Christmas.

My daughter and I have watched all of the episodes, many times over, but could not place where Aaron and Ellie Davis fit with the original Davis family. Could you help us see recall where they fit in the family tree, please?

Ok this is really confusing but I found a blog that may be able to help –

READ STEPHANIE’S POST – she found the answers –

I had to go onto hallmark website to find this out. It does not state in the movies how ellie is related to anyone, but she is Clark and Marty’s last child that was born after missy and Willie moved out west. Aaron is Marty and Marty’s first husband’s (aaron also). So, by the movies……
Clark and Ellen have a daughter name Missy.
Marty and Aaron have a son name Aaron.
Clark and Marty have two children name Ernie and Ellie.
Missy and Willie have three children name Matthew, Kathy, and Jeff (Huff boy they adopted)
Missy and Zachary: have two Jacob and Belinda (adopted)
Aaron (Missy’s Brother) and his late wife have two children: Christopher and Annabelle
Belinda and Drew have no children.
Belinda and Lee have two children: Lillian who was adopted and one that she was pregnant with at the end of the movie.

I found a website that explained that Aaron Davis ( the sherif) is missy Davis’s younger brother and Ellie is her sister that we just now found out about

  8. Annelie says
    18 November 11, 10:03am

We had heard that as well but found out more through Stephanie’s post that makes more sense. It still think it’s confusing but an excellent film, even if watched by itself.

    Hi Karen,

There is no release date right now, I hope they list one soon. I was looking for it to come out on DVD for Christmas, but looks like it will be too late. I don’t see this playing on hallmark right now, maybe before Christmas I hope. I will post any info I get, Thanks Roger

  15. Annelie says

Both of the episodes have already run. They haven’t given any information on when the series will be running again on TV.
If you ever want to check you can go to the film page on CFDb and click on official websites and then Film Website and you can check
what’s playing on the Hallmark channel up to a week in advance. I just checked for this week and didn’t see it coming up.

Is there any way to watch Love’s Christmas Journey online? I was watching it on tv (Dec 20th-Hallmark Channel) and it switched off. I would like to finish watching the movie.
    Thank you

  17. Annelie says
    28 December 11, 3:43pm

Sorry that happened to you! You won’t be able to see it anywhere other than the Hallmark Channel until it’s released on DVD.
That’s a shame – it really is a great movie. Keep checking back for the release date.

  18. Katy says
    15 January 12, 7:06pm

Aaron Davis is Misse’s stepbrother, Marty’s son with her first husband. Marty is Katherine Heigel’s character in Love Comes Softly (the first movie they made).

Re: Stephanie’s says: It is stated in Hallmark’s movie synopsis that Clark and Marty had two BOYS, so Ellie must be a third child who was never addressed in previous movies.

For those who are confused about the geneology line of the Davis Family and the Love Saga you have to read the books in order. The movies are only in part inspired by the book. As for Aaron and Ellie in Love’s Christmas Journey. They are 2 of the 5 children born to Clark and Marty. Missie (mother Ellen), Aaron (father Aaron), Arnie, Luke and Ellie born to both Clark and Marty. They are introduced in Love’s Enduring Promise. The Book, not the movie.

  23. Ashley says
    11 February 12, 7:59pm

Ellie and Aaron are Marty and Clark’s kids. When you watch the scene with them on the porch talking, Aaron talks about their mom and her first husband ( Aaron’s namesake ).

When the film actually comes out on DVD it should be closed captioned so that will let you see the writing in English at the bottom of the screen. I wish we had a release date but none yet so far.

    17 September 12, 9:31am

I’m sorry, we just don’t know for sure, we don’t think that they will be making another one. They are focusing on the Canadian West series but you never know. They are full of surprises! If they did make it, we are not sure what the name would be.

  32. Deborah says
    19 September 12, 12:22pm

You could find out all the names, etc. that everyone is confused about by reading the books.
I read Janette Oke’s books many, many years ago – long before movies were made of them. Books give much more details, as movies usually leave out a lot.

They are rearing this on Hallmark on Nov. 19. Unfortunatly it’s at 1 central and I’ll be busy. Really hoping the DVD will be coming out soon. I did see an advertisement for it the Gaither Homecoming Magazine/catalog. Really need to watch and get this.

Also, thanks to everyone who helped explain the connections here, I think I get it now. 🙂

Questions, though: who it the guy on the cover? Her brother or romantic intreset? Does she fall in love with the deputy or whatever? Does the boy her brother has taken in fall I love with someone? Just wondering, the suspense is killing me. 🙂 Thanks so much for your help!

Very disappointed! We were so looking forward to watching this next video in the series. It was very good and I could see how the writer was weaving in an angel of the Lord to help this dear family. But, then! My family was very sad when we realized that the writer had given and roll to “Santa” of all things, a place of being able to appear there to help care for a man in need, to give the man’s children their deepest desire and to answer the wish of the man for snow on Christmas. It seemed to be an entirely different writer…there was a wholesomeness as the others in the series, but the scripture and references were just flung in the story line…very worldly and, to this family that doesn’t allow St. Nick/Santa to infringe on celebrating the day the Lord was born, this was very distastefull. My 13 year old daughter, who reads this series, is SO disappointed. I hope Michael Landon Jr. takes back the writing of this series or we are sadly finished. They just took a series that was a neat witnessing tool and confused it with worldly idols.
