CFDb Review:
This is a film that will move you and show you how much Jesus loves you and what He suffered for us. Check out the CFDb Movie Review.
Film Synopsis:
The Passion of The Christ dramatically captures the last 12 hours of Christ’s life on Earth, based on the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. It is now the seventh most successful movie in history.
“A depiction of the last twelve hours in the life of Jesus of Nazareth, on the day of his crucifixion in Jerusalem. The story opens in the Garden of Olives where Jesus has gone to pray after the Last Supper. Betrayed by Judas Iscariot, the controversial Jesus, who has performed ‘miracles’ and has publicly announced that he is ‘the Son of God’, is arrested and taken back within the city walls of Jerusalem. There, the leaders of the Pharisees confront him with accusations of blasphemy; subsequently, his trial results with the leaders condemning him to his death. Jesus is brought before Pontius Pilate, the Roman Governor of Palestine, for his sentencing. Pilate listens to the accusations leveled at Jesus by the Pharisees. Realizing that his own decision will cause him to become embroiled in a political conflict, Pilate defers to King Herod in deciding the matter of how to persecute Jesus” by Anthony Pereyra

There was a great documentary made about the impact Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ had on the world. It’s called Impact: The Passion of The Christ and was directed by Tim Chey and unfortunately is now out of print. It’s worth checking out though. It should be available on Netflix in the States.
This film is “Catholic” not “Christian”. The message in this movie focuses more on the gruesome and graphic scenes of HOW Jesus died, but does not cover WHY he died.
The Holy Spirit was present during the film showings and many people did accept Christ as their Savior as a result of this film.

Great movie really gets you going, doesn’t it? But sadly not in Aramaic, but a mix of Arabic and something else! And has a few Catholic connotations in it…Added by Mel Gibson,a devout Orthodox Catholic. Hints like the scene where the woman wipes the bloodied face of The Messiah and his face is seen on the cloth. This is the St.Catherine story. And the bible hints at “we are healed by his STRIPE”; not stripes – the blow given across his head, and “the stripes wound” found in the original Aramaic scriptures translated by Victor Alexander @ v-a.com.”Know the REAL truth and that REAL truth will set you free.”
I never noticed the face in the cloth. I’ll have to pay attention next time I watch it.
