Three Young Kings: The Christmas Collection
Three Young Kings – Christmas festivities in a Latin-American village include the tradition of youngsters distributing gifts to other children in the community whose parents purchased the presents.
As part of the tradition, three young boys are given the honor of carrying the Christmas gifts in the costumes of the Three Wise Men to the richer parts of town. When they decide to take a short cut and end up riding through the poorest section of the village, the boys decide to give the presents to the ragged children instead, most of whom would otherwise receive no gifts, causing a crisis of conscience in the community.
The final shot of the three young men dressed as the magi in a church staging of the Nativity scene packs a genuine emotional wallop.
Veteran actor Thomas Mitchell introduces this 1956 Christmas episode of ABC TV’s Cavalcade of America series.
