CFDb Review!

Interesting documentary about Pastor Chuck Smith.  Check out the CFDb Blog about the film!

Film Synopsis:

A documentary about the “Jesus Movement” of the late 60’s early 70’s. It explores the history of Calvary Chapel and the life of Chuck Smith. In the late 1960’s Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa was the epicenter of one of the greatest spiritual revivals in American History. It’s Pastor Chuck Smith aka “Papa Chuck”, by many considered “The Father of the Jesus Movement”, welcomed the hippie counterculture into his church and the rest is history…amongst other things this movement birthed contemporary Christian music and worship as we know it today.

On September 24, 2013 – ‘A Conversation with Chuck Smith‘ is being released as well.

One year after being diagnosed with lung cancer Pastor Chuck Smith sits down for a candid and rare interview, 90 minutes long. In this personal conversation, he shares how he is dealing with his illness and answers questions such as: why God would allow suffering, what we can learn from it and how we can cope when times are tough. Chuck also talks about his wife Kay’s health as well as a wide array of topics ranging from Guardian Angels, Communication with God to the future of Christianity.

This is a propaganda film put together for Chuck Smith and includes his perspective and his hand picked friend’s perspectives.

There are many other voices with very different perspectives that are ommitted.

I can tell you that by the time I showed up at Calvary Chapel in the 90’s, it doesn’t at all resemble anything on this film except for the sound Bible teaching that continues in my experience.

To come in with bare feet seeking assitance today would be a quick eviction by the ushers possibly followed by a call to the police remove you from the property in my observation.

Calvary Chapel has been reduced to a Christian Bible education organization by Chuck Smith.

Sorry to hear that, I’m sure it’s not that way everywhere, just a sign of the Laodicean era like the Bible describes in Revelation
and Jesus said in Matthew – “Because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall grow cold.” We are seeing this in most of the churches
    I’m afraid.
