‘After Earth’ ~ CFDb Movie Review
A crash landing leaves Kitai Raige and his father Cypher stranded on Earth, a millennium after events forced humanity’s escape. With Cypher injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help.
Although definitely not a Christian film and won’t be found on CFDb, I wanted to share how this film impacted my spiritual walk.
- The special talk about fear that Cypher has with his son Kitai. Danger is real, but fear is a choice!
- “Take a knee”
- The scene when Kitai finally gets it and overcomes his fear and gains the victory.
So occasionally Roger and I will watch a secular film and sometimes they really impact my walk with God. This was one of those films. “Take a knee” reminded me that every time I start to get upset, I need to bow the knee to Jesus, pray to Him and refocus again.
The other part of the film was the talk about fear being a choice. When the scene at the end plays out I was suddenly hit with the realization that when we are dead to self, completely void of fear, the devil cannot win. No matter what he or anyone else does to us doesn’t matter if we have no fear. Think about that for awhile.
Rated PG-13 for sci-fi action violence and some disturbing images.
