’23 Blast’ ~ CFDb Movie Review &
Recommendation & DVD Giveaway

23 Blast

A new feature film from director Dylan Baker. Based on the Amazingly True Story of Travis Freeman.

When a high school football star is suddenly stricken with irreversible total blindness, he must decide whether to live a safe handicapped life or bravely return to the life he once knew and the sport he still loves.

Travis shows us what true bravery is by competing on the gridiron, even after becoming blind overnight. Depicting a story of hope triumphing over despair, of courage and faith overcoming fear, and of victory prevailing over adversity, 23 Blast is designed to encourage and uplift audiences.

23 Blast

What an inspirational film.  Here are some highlights:

  • Some great moments of humor throughout.
  • Sometimes we need tough love in a crisis.
  • Friends are necessary in a time of crisis.  Isolation is NEVER a good thing.
  • Tough adjustment period after a terrible loss.  We all handle crisis differently, but we all need time to adjust.
  • Great example of determination and perseverance.
  • Failure is not trying.
  • LOVED the dream.

As the picture above asks the question, which character are you, think about it!  There is a bully, a real friend, a motivator, a superficial friend, and the determined one.

Although the beginning is rather slow and there is almost no Christianity shown in the film, hang in there because this movie inspires you to persevere no matter what happens in life.  Pay CLOSE attention to the ending.

Isn’t it a shame that god would inflict such pain and suffering on someone

God doesn’t inflict pain on anyone unless it’s in the final judgment or if the person is past their time of probation and refuses to accept His love and forgiveness. Sin is alive and well in this world and it is because of our sin and our choices that have led to so much of this pain and suffering in the world. We are reaping the consequences of sin, not always our own sin. If you listen to any of this man’s interviews you’ll find out that he is blessed and loves God and I’m sure, as all of us, is looking forward to that Day when there will be no more suffering. In the meantime, we are to love and be grateful for His love towards us. I would recommend that you go see ‘Do Your Believe’ in the theaters – it opens March 20. And then ‘Little Boy’ comes out in April – both really powerful films that I think you will enjoy.
