Christian Film Guide Giveaway
People like to watch. From the battle arenas of ancient Rome, to a young couple sitting in the park “people watching”, we have always liked to watch. The fact is, God created us with eyes to see with. Therefore, it’s only natural that we would use them.
But what do we use them for?
A quick search on the internet shows that Americans watch 30-35 hours of TV every week. Broken down, that’s 5 hours per day (based on 35 hours). After reading this statistic I had to ask myself if I was part of that demographic. And not counting in the time I spend every week reviewing Christian movies, I would have to say that I probably watch more than my fair share of TV and movies.
While the above figures may shock some people, maybe we’re looking at this all wrong. Almost everyone I know, from young to old, watches a lot of TV. So rather than asking how much TV does one watch, maybe the question should be what do we watch? Are we spending time watching good, wholesome, uplifting shows and movies, or are we watching stuff that no self respecting Christian should be watching?
I know of many Christians who have little issue with watching movies and shows that include zombies eviscerating and eating the living, serial killers who dream up inventive ways to butcher, mutilate, and murder people, bored housewives who get their kicks from gossiping and sleeping around, and an endless plethora of crass and ungodly reality TV shows. And in the end, it all boils down to this: There is a growing need for good, wholesome entertainment; a need that has never been greater.
The problem is that most people watch 30-35 hours of TV every week and, according to the viewing figures, what we tend to watch is far from God-honoring, uplifting, or inspiring. My new book, Christian Film Guide, is a response to the problem; Christian Film Guide is a compendium of Christian movies and documentaries. I wrote the book for one reason, to help people of all ages make better viewing choices.
Christian Film Guide lists over 1,250 films from all kinds of genres including drama, sci-fi, chiller, kids, family, youth, romance, comedy, and so on. And I believe that the book would be a great resource for families and church leaders, as well as individuals wanting to find better viewing choices for themselves, their families and friends, and even their congregations. The book is laid out in an easy to use format and includes details on things like the actors, running time, genres, certificate, and a general synopsis of what the movie is about.
As the book has just been released I would like to offer the viewers of CFDb 20% of the cover price.
