‘Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors’
~ CFDb Movie Review

Dolly’s true story about the simple gift that changed her life forever.
“Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors” is based on the inspiring true story of living legend Dolly Parton’s remarkable upbringing. This once-in-a-lifetime movie special takes place inside the tight-knit Parton family as they struggle to overcome devastating tragedy and discover the healing power of love, faith and a raggedy patchwork coat that helped make Parton who she is today.
The film is set in the Tennessee Great Smoky Mountains in 1955. It is neither a biopic nor a musical about Dolly’s whole life and performing career, but rather a family-oriented faith-based story about the incidents in her and her family’s life around the time she was nine years old.
This is one of the best movies we’ve seen in a long time. This movie FAR exceeded my expectations. Besides the great cinematography, this is a film that held our attention from beginning to end.
My favorite saying was “If I can hold God’s attention, I can hold anybody’s”. What a great thought. The Creator, the God of the Universe loving us so much, Jesus dying for us as individuals. We are each so special to God, why wouldn’t we think that we are special enough to be used by God.
So much sorrow in Dolly’s family that turned this household of love and laughter to unbelievable pain. The raw emotions of the struggles with God were so real and the amazing way this family healed. So simple and yet so powerful.
Such precious moments throughout this film and great words of wisdom. The way the film came full circle in the end really focusing on love and forgiveness.
This film led us to want to learn more about Dolly Parton and the rest of her life and the lives of her family members too.
Although there isn’t a release date yet, NBC was gracious enough to give a link to watch the movie online.
